Southern Spain: Málaga - beaches - a dry river - a cave - mountains - Nerja

Participants: Joachim, me

Málaga: We started in the City because Joachim came by flight in the evening to Málaga. In a park we found fruits of Sapote Blanco, a variation with fruits which are inside not white but yellow, very tasty, also Butia fruits. On a hill in a forest we found a nice sleeping place (see photo)

Beaches: I find it great to walk barefoot through the sand along the water, especially in the hot summer! We did it almost 2 days. However, Joachim was not used to do so. He walked on the promenade. It was no problem to find each other, most time we could see each other. We found wild plants like malva to eat. If there's interest, we could do a tour only along the beaches next summer!

Dry river: To get to the mountains and the cave, we walked a dry river upwards, the Rio del Vélez. This was a good choise, it was easy to walk and without traffic. Later it was not possible to continue in the river bed, so we took roads with a bit of traffic. We bought only a little vegetables, because we brought food from home and we found fruits: figs, some grapes and almonds - some trees had a lot of almonds, although it was out of the saison.

Cave: The Cueva de la Fájara is a cave with several long passageways. A tip if you go there: The intrance is hidden under a tree, left of another cave with a visible intrance. In the other cave I invited to a potluck. In addition to Joachim and me 5 people came and brought wonderful raw food. They criticized the difficult access, about which I wasn't concious before. Close by there is a spring with a beautiful clean river and a swimming pool.

Mountains: We climbed on the 2066 m high La Maroma. During a break a small fox came looking for our food. He wasn't very shy. It's the first time that I saw a fox so close. After the La Maroma we went further on the ridge. But next morning Joachim told me he wanted to finish the tour as soon as possible, mainly because of blisters. So we walked downwards to the next village,  Canillas de Albaida, and he went further with a bus at 24 July. I walked home over the walking path GR-249 and arrived one day later in the evening. Still I have the wish to do this mountain tour completely. If you are interested to join, please write me, and we'll look for a date!

This Walkabouts with eating natural and sleeping in nature give me a wonderful feeling of power and freedom! After some Walkabouts in the past I doubted because sometimes I didn't sleep well on the tour and I felt tired. But this time I slept better, and I feel powerful and confident.
