Near Pórtugos, 30 km from Órgiva 🇪🇸

We were 6 people including one 4 years old girl. We hoped for more people, especially more children. But many interested people could not come. Still, it was a nice week.

We did a hike every day, the area is very beautiful, with lots of clean water and a lot of mulberry trees. Sometimes we also found figs, apples, pears and blackberries.

We ate these fruits and what we brought from our gardens.  Only tahini, olive oil, and a few seeds were bought. Aim'jie and I used the seeds to make sun-dried crackers. After the retreat, Aim'jie and I hiked from El Morreon (near Órgiva) to Motril for 2 more days.

We don't want to organize a retreat next year, maybe again in 2022.

Many of these trees are Mulberry trees.
Thursday
Small and tall - at the Fuente Agria, Pórtugos

The mulberries are delicious. And they can make a pretty make-up...

We visit a little drama in "Baile en el Aire" and admire this beautiful gate.

Two adults and one small child walk uphill
The youngest wanders proficiently

We visit a big waterfall

This waterfall is smaller. The oldest dares to take a shower.

The youngest likes to paint.

There are old imposing chestnut trees.
Sunday
We like to walk along acequias (small water channels).

At this house in the village Atalbéitar, we sit down. Inside someone plays on the piano the "Appasionata" from Beethoven.

We are happy that we have overcome a fence.
Monday
We are impressed by this big vine coming out of the house.

Aim'jie and I arrive in El Morreon. In the background the mountain that we'll climb tomorrow.
Tuesday
On the mountain looking down to Órgiva and El Morreon.

"Route of the mine workers"

There are many mines. In some we enter. I count up to 190m long tunnels

The life of the mine workers was hard.

1,500m altitude - here we find mainly holm oak trees.

In this seclusion we discover a statue of the Virgin Mary from 2019
Wednesday
So quiet and secluded - a special sleeping place.

We take a "shortcut" over a steep scree field.  Aim'jie doesn't like this.  I make her levels.

The scree field. Partly we went through bushes.

I forgot my hat. So I do like Aim'jie. Not that beautiful though.
Thursday
Motril, our destination.
