Mediterranean Paddle Tour

20 - 24 Oct 2024

My partner Murielle didn't feel like paddling this time. But her friend Aline did. And me. We paddled the same route as the year before so we didn't have to transport the boat...

My partner Murielle didn't feel like paddling this time. But her friend did. And me. We paddled the same route as the year before so we didn't have to transport the boat. As in previous years, we received the boat from Pastor Manfred and are very grateful for it.

Sunday, 13 Oct 2024 (7km)

We prepare the boat and our luggage...

...and off we go!

We paddle past the church (centre-right) where I always play music during church services on Saturdays.

We go to sleep on the beach before Caleta de Velez. The electric lights are from Torre del Mar.

Monday (18km)

We take a long siesta. I make myself a sunshade with the boat...

...and Aline relaxes back there under the roof of a former restaurant.

My food supply: raw eggs, a guava, collected dried olives, dried mulberries, dried buckwheat sprouts and a fermented cream of sunflower sprouts, soaked linseed, vegetables and wild herbs.

Tuesday (12km)

We slept on a beach near Rincón de la Victoria.

These caves could be a nice place to sleep during a walkabout. But we have to be safe from the waves (so that the walkabout doesn't turn into a swimabout).

We spend the night at the same place as on the previous year's paddle tour.

Wednesday (26km)

For me, it's the last acceptable place to sleep on the beach before Malaga.

Malaga lies in a large bay. To shorten the route, we move a few kilometres away from the coast...

...especially as the harbour of Málaga reaches far into the sea.

It took me a little while to understand what Aline meant by the three giraffes.

Thursday (16km)

Some rain is forecast for the night. I put up this tarp as rain protection...

...and Aline slept on this platform under the roof of a restaurant. She obviously doesn't turn around too much while sleeping.

If you look closely, you can recognise the Stupa, a Buddhist temple near which a German open-air church service has already taken place, which I accompanied with the accordion.

After the tour we have to wash the boat thoroughly to remove the salt water from the seams.
